Our Founder
Tristan B. McPhail is a 20-year-old engineer, scientist, and inventor focused on applied mechanical systems and stimulus responsive materials. While many of Tristan’s team members are older than him, his technical depth, systems level thinking, and consistent ability to translate ideas into validated designs underpin his role as founder and lead researcher. He leads all research and intellectual property development at McPhail Patents and Research LLC, with current work centered on safety systems and material driven behaviors that activate only under defined conditions. His work emphasizes cost reduction, disciplined engineering, and rigorous experimental validation.
Tristan’s technical background includes formal coursework completed in both Japan and the United States. His academic work in Japan emphasized structured problem solving with accuracy, repetition, and individual accountability for mastery. This experience shaped a strong preference for precision, conservative assumptions, and building understanding from fundamental scientific principles. He is currently pursuing engineering coursework at Purdue University, where his studies center on materials behavior, mechanical systems, and applied engineering analysis.
